Late in the evening on October 12, 2015, two Kansas City, Mo. firefighters were killed in the Line of Duty while searching for victims during a large apartment building fire.
The Rapid Intervention Team witnessed the collapse and went into action to locate the firefighters that called a May Day. The Rapid Intervention Team located and removed four firefighters, two of which died from their injuries.
Killed in the Line of Duty was Larry Leggio, a 17 year veteran and John Mesh, a 13-year veteran. The fire was at 2608 Independence Ave.
Leggio leaves behind his wife and mother, while Mesh leaves behind a wife and four daughters.
