The Toledo Fire & Rescue Department recently received several of the new Bullard ECLIPSE LDX thermal imaging camera for familiarization.
These T.I.C.’s employ the latest technology being equipped with I.C.E. software (image contrast enhancement) which sharpens the distinction between objects and backgrounds thereby optimizing images for greater clarity.
The design of the Bullard T.I.C. allows easier use with the gloved hand when powering the unit off and on.
One advanced feature is temperature measurement in numeric and/or relative heat indicator formats and Super Red Hot colorization which highlights high-heat scenes in brilliant shades of yellow, orange and red. The new display on the ECLIPSE LDX has increased brightness with improved contrast enabling firefighters to see more clearly in thick smoke and direct sunlight.
Our department will be receiving five of these Bullard units with the delivery of our new apparatus, and have a goal of acquiring nine more this year and seven more next year. By reaching these goals this would place a T.I.C. on every engine, truck and squad.
