The University of Toledo College of Medicine held their sixth annual Emergency Medicine Wall of Honor Induction Ceremony today at noon. Among the three individuals receiving this distinction was retired Fire Chief Carl W. Neeb.
Chief Neeb retired in 1980 and served with the Toledo Fire & Rescue Department for 30 years. While serving as Deputy Chief he was responsible for planning and research which included the implementation of the Life Squads and the Paramedic Program. The first class of firefighters to embark on paramedic training began on January 7, 1974 at the Medical College of Ohio.
Chief Neeb was known as the “Father of Paramedics” in Toledo for his invaluable contributions in establishing emergency medical services with our Department.
Thank you, Chief Neeb, for continuing to represent our Department even in retirement. Congratulations!
