On Sunday, September 8, 2013, The Historic Church of St. Patrick will hold its Mass of Thanksgiving to honor all local firefighters. The Mass begins at 10:00 a.m. and all firefighters, both active and retired, as well as family and friends of all faiths are welcome. This year marks the 7th Annual Celebration of Firefighters in a Mass of Thanksgiving.
The Mass grew out of a way for the parish to thank the Toledo firefighters that responded when the church steeple caught fire after it was struck by lightning on September 9, 1980. The Mass of Thanksgiving now honors all local firefighters.
The church is located at the corner of Avondale and 13th Street in downtown Toledo.
