The Toledo Fire & Rescue Department has been awarded a competitive grant valued at $80,350 for the acquisition of specialized equipment to assist and improve our response to fires and other emergencies in the city’s high-rise buildings.
This grant was awarded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in coordination with the U.S. Fire Administration.
The city of Toledo has more than 100 buildings that qualify as high-rise structures which are defined as buildings with six or more stories. This equipment will also have additional uses at incidents where there is a need for long stretches of fire hose, such as fires in parking garages, train derailment fires or shipboard fires.
The Toledo Fire & Rescue Department is always searching for creative ways to acquire funding to procure needed equipment.
